Non-Contact High-Precision Dimensional Measurement System

Utilizing high-resolution industrial cameras, telecentric lenses, and high-precision image measurement algorithms, this non-contact automated measurement system enables real-time detection of geometric dimensions—including length, width, height difference, angle, diameter, roundness, concentricity, hole diameter, and hole spacing—on high-speed production lines.

Without any physical contact with the workpiece, the system completes image capture, dimensional calculation, and tolerance evaluation within milliseconds, effectively eliminating the measurement errors commonly caused by contact, applied force, or operator variation in traditional gauging methods. Depending on product size, field of view, optical configuration, and site conditions, measurement accuracy can reach the micron (μm) level, making it suitable for precision components, electronic parts, metal machined parts, plastic injection-molded parts, and automated assembly processes.

System Operation Process 

1. Image Calibration
Using a high-precision calibration plate to establish the conversion relationship between pixels and actual physical dimensions, converting image pixels into mm or μm while compensating for lens distortion, shooting angle, and geometric errors caused by the optical system, ensuring measurement results are consistent and traceable.

2. Precision Edge Positioning
Through high-contrast imaging and sub-pixel edge detection technology, precisely locating product contours and measurement features. Sub-pixel analysis enhances positioning accuracy to less than a single pixel, enabling stable identification of even minor dimensional differences.

3. Geometric Feature Fitting
Fitting the acquired contour points and edge data into lines, circles, arcs, ellipses, or other geometric models, and calculating key features such as intersection points, center points, radii, center axes, and reference positions.

4. Dimensional Calculation and Tolerance Evaluation
Based on the product's engineering drawings and specified measurement references, automatically calculating values such as point-to-point distance, line-to-line distance, angle, diameter, center distance, concentricity, and hole spacing. These values are compared against preset standard dimensions and tolerance ranges, with OK/NG results output in real time.
